Hyperhidrosis device
*Mark D. Anliker, Oliver P. Kreyden: Tap water Iontophoresis, in: Kreyden, Böni, Burg: Hyperhydrosis and Botulinum Toxin in Dermatology, Karger, 2002. The treatment of hand and foot hyperhydrosis Hyperhydrosis means pathologically excessive perspiration. During treatment, the electrophysiological effects of galvanic current on skin are applied. Two active electrodes become connected to the body which are located in separate tanks filled with water. During treatment, the therapeutical current migrates from one electrode to the direction of the other. The most obvious explanation for the effect is that chlorine ions in tap water decrease the production of perspiration in the perspiratory glands. Hyperhidrosis device from Dr Derm
Complete patient protection during treatment If hands or feet are touched to water, the device slowly and indulgently sets intensity to the originally trued value, thus no inconveniences should be feared. Treatment frequency In the first phase of treatment, 3-5 treatments of 10-20 minutes per occassion are recommended weekly. These occassions can be made rarer as perspiration decreases. Regular treatments are needed to reach spectacular results. They can as well be interrupted periodically.
