The high frequency glass tube of the instrument contains rarefied inert gas, which starts glowing upon contacting the wall of the glass tube. When the glass electrode touches the skin, sparks jump over to the skin surface. High frequency causes capillaries to dilate, blood supply to the area increases, and the created ozone disinfects.
